As a former RF Telecommunications Technician, Systems Analyst, and CAL FIRE telecommunications advisor, I urgently recommend residents near Fiddletown Road purchase a pair of FRS radios set to Channel 3 Tone 2 for use in case of emergency. FRS radios are inexpensive ($25/pair at Walmart) and provide excellent short range (1-5 mi.) communications. They are a great Neighborhood Watch tool, too.

Why Chnl 3, Tone 2? I operate a licensed radio mobile and base station with antenna at 100 feet AGL. The base station provides FRS communications for several miles in any direction from Brockman Mill and GMRS coverage for the entire length of Fiddletown Rd. and Hwy 16. My commercial-grade transceivers are programmed only for Tone 2 operation on all licensed frequencies.

In conjunction with access to a wide selection of radio communications equipment and decades of professional experience, I am equipped to provide both local and worldwide emergency communications.
